Describe in detail what the event/activity was,

How did you choose this?

Did you work with a community partner, if so who?

Why did you choose this partner?

The group met from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm, we all met in the Southeast parking lot, headed over to the garden and had a brief talk about being safe, wearing gloves, and what plastic does to our environment. With four groups we split up to collect trash. We ended our civic engagement by emptying our buckets to short through the trash. We choose this partner because what better way to incorporate the campus community as well as our surrounding community members. The SLCC gardens also partner with Wasatch Community Gardens, SLCC Recycling, Jordan River, and TreeUtah.

The group came to the decision to pick up trash. The group came to me and wanted me to look into a community partner that we could work with. Since being a member of Student Leaders in Civic Engagement (SLiCE) and co-coordinator of SLCC Earth Day Festival I was able to speak with our campus gardens as well as SLCC recycling and get a plan of attack for our group.
